Fundraiser & Art

“Through this exhibition, I wanted to translate what I witnessed in and around the forests of India into visual form, to show how art can create empathy and bring conservation issues closer to people.”

— Viren Bhaika

“Tyger Tyger, Burning Bright…” at Open Palm Court Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi

Tyger Tyger, Burning Bright… was an exhibition of mixed-media works by VirenpratapSingh Bhaika, curated by Dr. Alka Pande, exploring the balance between power and fragility in nature and the human role within it.

The show featured charcoal drawings, acrylic paintings, and collages inspired by Viren’s fieldwork in Central India with one series exploring the fragmentation of the landscape, another capturing the beauty of the jungle through collages, and a Gond-influenced series inspired by the indigenous art style of the Pradhan Gond tribe, reflecting local traditions of communities living on the fringes of forests and closely connected with nature.

Alongside the artworks, the event hosted a fundraiser for VEEWild through the sale of paintings and postcards.
